Hi Randy! Thanks for stopping by. My uncle Victor enlisted in 1940 in San Francisco and was a Seaman 2nd Class aboard the ship Medusa and I think the white stripe distinguished his rank type from the firemen on board who wore a red stripe, but I’m not “for sure”. 😀
